Artaaj throws a supposed-to-be birthday surprise party for the CEO
Nerves were stretched and sinews taut; the days were hectic and evenings even pacier. Big Boys Toys show in Abu Dhabi was in full cry but Artaaj team members didn’t miss a trick. Like a ‘what’s the password’ game, the word went from mouth to ear of one another, planning the bash, for it was our CEO’s birthday on 19 March.
Every able hand was summoned to be present at 12 midnight at Relax bar of Aloft Hotel, where we all were billeted. The birthday boy, of course, was kept in the dark, for this was one which went under the description of a ‘surprise party’. But our CEO cannot be kept away from information, for he attracts information and confessions like a stern-eyed uncle from errant nephews! One of the least guarded and guileless member of the team did the nephew act. ‘Unintentional’ is the claim, blurting out is more like it!
Suffice to say that the surprise part of the party sort of went crashing around our ears. But the party didn’t. The spirits took away the fatigue; eclectic music moved from foot-tapping to one caused a melee of arms and legs on the dance floor and much fun was had.
Dawn was breaking and the roosters crowing when the yellow birthday cake was cut, the birthday boy was wished many more returns of the day, and then put to bed.
In case you didn’t hear it then, Biju Jayaraaj, Happy Birthday, once more!
